In a perfect balance between adventure and pleasure join the traditional South
Sulawesi schooner to discover some of Indonesia's more than 17,000 islands.
The distant and almost inaccessible Lesser Sunda Islands are where we are heading,
where Dragons still roam on Komodo Island. Where the Manggari tribe of Flores
retained its ancient Bullwhip Dance, where Sumada Warriors still stage their
medieval battles on horseback, where the worlds most intricate cloth are hand-woven.
Here the people live in stunning peak roofed traditional houses, where the waters
are turquoise, the coral reefs intact and the beaches pristine ... and where the
sun shines almost 365 days a year.
The Ship
The MSY Perintis was built by experienced craftsmen in the centuries old
tradition of South Sulawesi ship building. It is a so-called Bugis Schooner Phinisi.
These sturdy ships have plied the Indonesian waters for hundreds of years and have
proven to be absolutely secure over an astoundingly long lifetime. They are far
less sensitive to rolling movements than many modern-designed ships of the same
size.
The Crew
Onboard are the Norwegian captain and an experienced local
12 members crew with intimate knowledge of the area.
Watersports
Enjoy scuba diving with fully-trained and internationally accredited instructors and
snorkelling, fishing, swimming, beachcombing or just soaking up the sun.
