With the SY Sea Star to the largest coral atoll of the world
The comfortable 3-mast vessel SY Sea Star offers unique expeditions to
Aldabra - the largest coral atoll of the world.
This 34 km long and 15 km wide atoll consists
of four islands, which enclose a 155 sqm large lagoon.
Until today the atoll is an uninhabited and intact biotope. UNESCO
declared it a World Heritage site in 1982. The Aldabra Atoll hosts
the largest colony of wild living tortoises. Their number is estimated at
150.000. The lagoon with more than 700 types of fish is a highlight
for snorkellers and divers. Numerous Frigate Birds, boobies, herons and
flamingos appreciate the island as a quiet nesting ground. Also the White-throated Crake,
the last flightless species in the Indian Ocean, lives here.
